November 2004 News Letter

2004 has been a busy Scout year, we’ve clocked up a record number of ‘Nights Away’, Ben was our first Scout to complete 50 nights, gaining his level five award and a couple of weeks ago, Chris Jameson became the first 4th Ashby Scout to be presented with his Gold Chief Scout Award. This is the highest Award achievable in the Scout section, he will now move on into our new explorer young leaders unit where he will use his skills and experiences to help train the young Scouts as they move up from cubs.

We welcome Thomas Bagley, George Marshal, Luke Lewis-Borrel, Alex Martyr and George Fletcher to our section, they have all moved up from Cubs recently boosting our numbers to nineteen.

I would also like to thank Scouts / parents who are taking part in our Aluminium can re-cycling project. This is part of the Scout Community challenge and is also adding cash to our 2007 camp fund. 2007 is a special year for Scouting, it is one hundred years young and we a planning a special camp to celebrate.

2005 is just around the corner and the first activities have already been planned. The venue for summer camp will be down South in either Devon or Cornwall. We have looked at several sites and have a short list of three, the favourite has been provisionally booked.
