Remembrance Sunday 2020

With England under lockdown, we cannot gather and parade to remember those who gave their lives for us in conflict this year.

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have been encouraged to remember this morning by joining millions of other households across the UK on their doorsteps at 11:00 am. Some have chosen to support the British Legion by walking a mile in uniform whilst others have quietly supported the poppy appeal themselves. 4th Ashby Scout Group has donated funds for a wreath which was laid privately before being transferred to the War Memorial on Market Street.

We understand many are disappointed that the parade cannot go ahead but understand that it is not possible for so many people to gather safely, especially with cases locally rising. Group Scout Leader, Jon Bloor, applauded the 190 members of the group for respecting the rules and remembering at home.

Wherever we are on Remembrance Sunday, whether, on parade or the doorstep, we will remember those who gave their lives, those who lost loved ones, those who served and saw the horror of conflict across the years.
